In addition to our monthly meeting on Friday, March 5th, at the SLO Down Pub and the stellar picking and grinning of the bluegrass-a-licious Mother Corn Shuckers, there will be an opportunity to help our fellow surfers and beach-goers down in Chile. You can read this flyer on Chile Earthquake Relief to find out more.
Also in Chile, you can check out the campaign being run by, Save the Waves, the only group that has been working with the Chileans to fight the coastal development.

A Letter From David Levy at Marinet |

Dear Surfriders,
The ecosystem approach adopted here has everyone having a say about the uses the sea is put too. Unfortunately, weight is not given equal balance between industry and groups such as yourself, which is unfortunate because you are at the face-to-face with the seas and oceans through your daily contact.
Your experience of the seas when contaminated with sewage, industrial discharge and overflows is essential in understanding what protections are needed for our waters. Your voice should resonate from the rafters when it comes to identifying sites for protection and measures that are needed to make our seas safe for recreation.
It amazes me that we as a society allow such discharges into an environment that provides us with our food; its akin to storing our vegtables in the toilet. Inconceivable, yet that is what is being allowed.
We would like to make an alliance with the Surfriders Movement in both America and in the United Kingdom so we would appreciate your help in establishing that contact.
I remain,
Yours
David Levy
